first_imgThe unemployment rate remained steady in Northeast B.C. in September.The rate stayed at 5.5 per cent, the same as August when it dropped from 6.4 per cent in July.Approximately 39,200 people were employed in the region this September.  In September 2014, the unemployment rate was 4 per cent with 38,600 working.- Advertisement -Across the country, the economy added 12,000 net new jobs in September, but the unemployment rate climbed by one-tenth of a percentage point to 7.1 per cent as more people entered the labour force, Statistics Canada said Friday.The gain in the overall number of jobs came due to a gain in part-time employment, offset by a drop in full-time jobs.In B.C., the rate jumped slightly to 6.3 per cent from 6.1 per cent in August.Advertisementlast_img
