They won’t be bullied by Real Madrid.“Over the last few years Real Madrid have usually targeted a player and David De Gea is that player this season.“I think Manchester United are going to make it as difficult as possible for Real Madrid to just snare De Gea. The point that they wanted to make was that if the deal was to be done, Sergio Ramos would come the other way. That has been tricky.“Rafa Benitez has been speaking about the situation and says Ramos is going nowhere, and you can safely say Benitez has no love for Manchester United. If you go back to the days where he was in his role at Liverpool, jousting with Sir Alex Ferguson, there is history there and both clubs are flexing their muscles a little bit.“Manchester United want to do it on their terms so that if De Gea leaves there has to be something in return. Sergio Ramos would be the preferred situation.“Should United stick to their guns and De Gea stays for the final season of his contract, he’ll leave for nothing and United can take that hit. It would prove they aren’t going to be messed around and they’re big enough to take a hit like that.“It wouldn’t be the end of the world for either party [if he stayed at Old Trafford]. De Gea just like Cristiano Ronaldo might just have to sit there for another year.”last_img
