The Bulldogs’ spring slate features six Big Ten opponents and four Ivy League teams as well as foes from the ACC, Big 12 and SEC. “The spring schedule is another very challenging one, but exciting for our boys.  We have a very young team with great talent so we will see how this group adapts to college tennis,” said Kozlowski. “In all, we are set to play 17 opponents that were nationally ranked last year.  We have several new teams on the schedule this year that we’re really looking forward to playing. We added LSU, Tulane, Purdue, Cornell, Michigan State, Brown, Rice, Harvard and Texas Tech.”   The Bulldogs host Utah State and Northern Illinois at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Jan. 16 to open the spring campaign. Drake will then participate in the ITA Division I Kick-Off Weekend on Jan. 22-24 at Chapel Hill, N.C. hosted by North Carolina. The Bulldogs open the ITA Kick-Off Weekend against North Carolina State and then will play either North Carolina or Indiana. Drake then heads to Ivy League foes Dartmouth and Harvard on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31, respectively. The Bulldogs return to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Feb. 7 and welcomes Western Michigan and Green Bay. Drake goes back on the road and travels to Minnesota on Feb. 14 before making a trip to the state of Louisiana, where the Bulldogs will square off against LSU (Feb. 19), Louisiana-Lafayette (Feb. 20) and Tulane (Feb. 21).  Next is a seven-match homestand, beginning with contests against Purdue (Feb. 26), Cornell (Feb. 27) and Denver (Feb. 28). Drake welcomes Big Ten foes Iowa and Michigan State on March 4 and March 5, respectively before wrapping up the homestand against Brown (March 11) and Wisconsin (March 13). Two weeks later, Drake heads to the Lone Star State to square off against Rice and Texas Tech on March 26 and William & Mary on March 27 in Houston, Texas. The Bulldogs opens the MVC schedule with their final home match of the season against Wichita State on April 9. Drake finishes its non-conference schedule with a trip to Nebraska on April 13, before closing out the regular season on April 23 in Normal, Ill. against MVC foes Illinois State and Southern Illinois. The Bulldogs will attempt to capture their second straight MVC Tournament crown when the league title is up for grabs in Wichita, Kan. (April 28-30). “Our goals remains the same, to bring home another MVC Championship and compete in the NCAA Tournament,” said Kozlowski.   Print Friendly Versionlast_img
