first_imgKevin McHugh on target tonightFINN HARPS came from two goals down to earn a late late point away to Wexford Youths tonight.Home team midfielder Eric Molloy netted in the 12th minute to give his side the lead in what looked like a suspiciously off-side goal, Molloy rounding Harps keeper Patton to finish.Harps huffed and puffed in the first half but had little to show for their efforts in front of 400 fans at Ferrycarrig. And 12 minutes into the second half Wexford went two up thanks to an own goal by Harps’ Ciaran Coll. But this time Harps responded well as Kevin McHugh pulled one back within 90 seconds of the re-start.He hassled Stephen Last off the ball, won it and then struck the ball home from 12 yards.Any thoughts of a comeback appeared to be dashed however as Tommy Bonner was giving his marching orders for a high challenge – and his second yellow card. Wexford saw their chance and piled pressure on Harps but Shaun Patton was equal to several good efforts, one in the dying minutes of the 90 which was first class.A head injury to Damien McNulty forced the game to be held up for five minutes, so Harps had more injury time to play with. They went direct again, launching throw after throw into the Youths box.Home keeper Graham Doyle decided to come for one of them, misjudged it and Harps defender Packie Mailey rose highest to head the ball in for Harps. It was an unlikely point in the circumstances; but one which was well deserved. The unfortunate McNulty was taken to hospital where he is being kept in overnight as a precaution.LATE MAILEY STRIKE EARNS 10-MAN HARPS A POINT IN WEXFORD was last modified: May 31st, 2014 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:2-2drawfinn harpswexford youthslast_img
