For Foresters and Leila Jane & The HealersThere is a great double header featuring two young Donegal bands at the Balor Arts Centre Ballybofey on Saturday 15th. For Foresters is a three-piece ambient experimental folk act from Letterkenny. Leila Jane & The Healers embrace the magic of the Delta Blues and combine it with sweet sounding tones of 50’s rock n’ roll and country music. Roy Orbison, Wanda Jackson and John Lee Hooker are among her influences. It represents a poetic encounter between strings and voices, epic sounds from the Mandingo Kingdom and the music of the Persian courts. It promises to be an engagingly honest and fresh interpretation of music that perfectly balances tradition with real innovation. Tickets at An Grianán Theatre on 00353 (0)74 91 20777 or online at eaf.ie.Donegal’s Leading Traditional Family GroupThe final RCC Folk & Roots Weekend concert at 4pm on Sunday 16th features Donegal’s finest, NaMooneys.  The family group is comprised of sisters Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh (fiddle and vocals) and Anna Ní Mhaonaigh (whistle and vocals), their brother Gearóid Ó Maonaigh (guitar), his son Ciarán Ó Maonaigh (fiddle) and producer Manus Lunny (bouzouki). The Atlantic Arc Orchestra at An Grianán Theatre Letterkenny on Sunday 16th includes Dónal Lunny, Pauline Scanlon, Pádraig Rynne, Jarlath Henderson, Aidan O’Rourke, Sylvain Barou, Ewen Vernal and John Blease. Famed for singles such as ‘Too Much Pressure’ and ‘On My Radio’, The Selecter is led by their iconic frontwoman Pauline Black and co-fronted by original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson. The anarchic passion that fuelled their gigs during the 2 Tone era is still there, except the pair is more focused than ever. This non-seated gig at RCC Letterkenny on Thursday 20th promises to be great fun. They deliver cello music like you’ve never heard before – from down home blues to virtuosic stompin’ bluegrass. It is funky, sexy, electric, fiercely rhythmic, and only occasionally classical. The California FeetwarmersMasters of ragtime, Dixieland blues and early swing, The California Feetwarmers play Rathmullan House on Friday 21st. Based in Los Angeles, they stylishly down and re-work old classics, re-visiting material from The Blue Ridge Playboys, Scott Joplin, The Memphis Jugband and Emile Grimshaw’s Rag Pickers.
