Cricket Advisory Committee was certainly not happy with Shastri’s demands as the appointments of Zaheer and Dravid were made in consultation with the head coach.CAC wrote a letter to the CoA that they are completely pained by this move made by Shastri.”We spoke to Mr Shastri about getting Mr Khan and Mr Dravid on board in these capacities, and he readily agreed to the idea of having them in the set-up so that it could benefit the team and Indian cricket as a whole in time to come,” the CAC wrote.advertisementSoon, BCCI reacted and clarified that the appointments of Dravid and Zaheer as batting and bowling consultants were made after consultation with head coach Ravi Shastri. However, this time the BCCI said the appointments were made on “overseas tour-to-tour basis”.”The recommendation for Mr. Ravi Shastri was made on the merit of his presentation and the vision that he projected for taking the team to greater heights. After taking the decision on his selection, the CAC consulted him and decided on having Batting and Bowling consultants on overseas tour-to-tour basis, as per the requirement of the team.”CAC member Sourav Ganguly said Zaheer was contracted for 150 days a year. But BCCI made another U-turn on Saturday when CoA chief Vinod Rai said, “There’s no such thing as a contract as yet. These are just recommendations. A recommendation has been made and the CoA has to act on that. That recommendation will be acted upon in consultation with the head coach.”Shastri will be meeting the four-member committee of the Supreme Court appointed CoA next week for the selection of the support staff for Team India.”We have set up a committee of Diana Edulji, Acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary, acting president of the board CK Khanna and CEO Rahul Johri as a convener, who will speak to them and Ravi Shastri and make the selection of the other coaches,” Rai said.
